Biomedical Equipment Technician II – Downers Grove, IL

The Biomed Equipment Tech (BMET) II works primarily at our partner hospital to provide cost-effective maintenance on company and customer-owned medical equipment to assure it is functioning properly and meets customers’ needs. They perform operational verification, preventive maintenance and corrective repair service. The technician will complete all associated documentation and communication in a timely manner to keep our customers informed. At this level they also provide technical training to other employees in areas such as equipment operation, check-out procedures, preventive maintenance, repair, quality management and/or International Organization for Standardization practices, procedures and documentation.


Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior work experience in hospital setting or with customer service
• Basic understanding of industry regulatory ‘requirement and ISO standards

Required Qualifications:
• Associate or Bachelor degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Equipment Technology or equivalent military training
• Valid driver’s license
• Proficiency in completing preventive maintenance and repairs on wide range of general equipment or demonstrates competency within a specialized equipment area such as anesthesia, imaging, network-smart technology, respiratory or sterilizers
• Understanding of business management in order to assist with contract management and account margin maintenance.
• Experience with the setup and application of test equipment (electrical safety analyzer, digital multi-meter, patient simulator, etc.).
• Able to read, analyze and interpret technical literature, schematics and technical drawings.
• Able to dialogue with clinical staff on the topics of equipment features, functionality, etc.
• Excellent customer communication skills that project confidence, enthusiasm and a professional image.
• Ability to lift and/or push 75 pounds and stand and walk for long periods of time

The Biomed Field Service Technician primarily works independently at our customer sites, including hospitals and clinics, to provide cost-effective maintenance on company and customer-owned medical equipment to assure it is functioning properly and meets customers’ needs. Purpose:
Responsible for providing a consistent methodology in managing and developing equipment planning for new facilities, renovations, expansions and equipment replacement for AAH by providing innovative technology that advances patient outcomes and provides a safe environment for our customers and team members. Accountable for developing and maintaining equipment budgets per the scope of the project by endorsing and selecting appropriate technology based on the standardization initiatives of the organization and assist in analyzing the reuse of existing equipment. Facilitates and leads equipment meetings with end users, HTM, IT, Construction, Architects and provides necessary documentation such as room by room detailed equipment selections, and equipment specification cut sheets to outside architects and construction project managers

Accountabilities:
Responsible for each phase of the construction project equipment planning process, such as cost estimate, development, inventories, design, budget management and deployment. Aligsn with architech and business owners to understand the scope of the projects and the goals and objectives of the program. Reviews scope of the project with construction designers develops the budget and manages against actuals and identifies cost savings or budget risks.
Develops equipment specifications for design purposes by leading and facilitating user group meetings and recommending and assisting with the selection of equipment based on the current standards and the technology necessary to meet the intiatives and strategy of the program. Provides necessary documents to architects and designers to finialize construction documents.
Schedules delivery of equipment to meet the construction timelines for owner furnished/contractor installed items, manages delivery and set~up of equipment and assures that all equipment is delivered and set up for opening day
Responsible for developing the equipment budget for construction projects and manages final budget against actual working closely with the Service Line Technology Managers
Responsible for understanding the standardization initiatives of AAH and maintaining those standards throughout the project development. Align closely with HTM and Service Line Technology Managers when new technology is being introduced and identified to assure that the equipment selection adheres to the goals and objectives of the organization in providing improved patient outcome.
Provides and maintains a strong working relationship with key stakeholders: Construction leadership, clinical leadership, Service Line Technology Managers, HTM, IT, architects, throughout the duration of the project to ensure that the department is meeting the goals and objectives of the project.

Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in an allied health discipline, healthcare administration or clinical engineering
Five years of medical equipment planning experience or related experience in medical clinical engineering, supply chain management or architectural medical planning.
Demonstates project management ability coupled with strong interpersonal skills to effectively form collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, clinicians, physicians, department directors, managers and suppliers in developing equipment planning for the construction projects.
Strong problem solving skills and ability to manage large volumes of projects
Excellent interpersonal, consensus building and group facilitation skills
Excellent PC Skills with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Attainia Software.
A strong desire to create a superior service department, which will ensure the planning of safe technology for our customers and team members
